When I said, “My foot is slipping,” your unfailing love, Lord, supported me. When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.” Psalms 94:18-19
It’s been 2 years since the start of the COVID pandemic. In that time, most of us have gone through a lot of stress and grief as we struggle with a new way of living. We’ve dealt with countless deaths (currently over 1,000,000 in the U.S.) and the pain and anxiety most of us feel is high.
We’ve dealt with it in many ways. Some have taken up new hobbies. Some have learned and adapted through life via a computer – Zoom is one of the most used products out there right now. We’ve lost weight. We’ve gained weight.
Life is incredibly stressful right now – especially as our hearts mourn for the people of Ukraine in the face of a dictator waging war on their country.
I’ve gone through times where I’ve sought God for comfort and times where I don’t talk to Him much because I’m numb. I realized recently that I’ve spent more time being numb than anything else and I don’t like it. I love life and want to feel that joy again – the joy I feel when I’m resting in God’s presence.
This post’s bible verse has been speaking to me a lot lately as I struggle with finding that joy and peace in my life again.
To console means “to alleviate the grief, sense of loss, or trouble of”, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary.
Could it really be that simple – could God’s love help us alleviate the grief, loss, and trouble in our hearts?
Yes, it can, my friends.
Today I invite you to spend time with God. Try a breath prayer. Pray the rosary. Spend time talking with Him about what’s on your heart then sit back and let yourself truly feel the love and peace that only comes from God.
He loves you and wants you to know peace. It won’t make your worries go away but you’ll feel better knowing God has your back. No matter what, we can rest our worries in God’s hands. Put your anxiety in His loving hands.
God, thank You for reminding me that true peace comes from You and Your presence. Help me lay my worries at your feet so I can rest in your arms. Amen.
