Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. (James 1:17)
I spent the month of December looking back on 2018, reflecting on the choices I made and the path God led me on.
Friends, I am so very grateful for everything. My morning quiet time with God has been spent praising His name because of how blessed I am.
A summary of my blessings:
- An incredible fella who opened his home to my son and I, allowing us to live with him until I could locate a place of our own.
- A great job with amazing benefits, phenomenal co-workers, and incredible opportunities for growth.
- My children are doing so much better today than they were a year ago. Both of them have learned and grown and while they still struggle with issues, they have learned/are learning how to manage those issues.
- My car. I had a 2002 Subaru that had over 240,000 miles on it (as of last week). My fella helped me keep it together long enough to get me into a new(er) car. God blessed me not only with that car but brought an incredibly amazing guy my way who was willing and able to help me keep it running.
- The savings to buy the aforementioned new(er) car.
- My new place. While it’s far from my fella, it’s 4.5 blocks from my son’s father and super close to the school he attends. That means my son and I have our own home.
- Friends who helped me furnish my apartment. Every day when I use my kitchen table, or sit on my couch, or grab a book from my bookshelf I thank God for the friends who gave me those things. So not only do I have amazing furniture, I think of the friends who gave them to me daily and smile.
- Special time with my daughter. I miss having her around and am so glad that she and I have been able to go on road trips, or get together for meals and a movie. She is an amazing young woman.
- Friends. Friends who opened their homes and their hearts and their lives. If you’re reading this then that means you.
- Church. Actually, that should be churches! My fella and I have found a church that makes us very happy. And on the weekends when he’s at work, I attend a local Episcopalian church near my place. Both of those are different but filled with the Holy Spirit. I would hate to have to choose one – they both fill a need in my soul.
- My blog and those of you who follow along as I share my stumbles and joys. There aren’t many of you who read this and I’m grateful for each one of you.
There are more blessings but I’ll stop there for now.
My wish? That 2019 bring us all joys and rewards. May we grow closer to God and hear His voice. May the struggles we face be light and easy and when they happen, may we remember to turn to God and place ourselves in His loving hands.
Thank you, my friends. I can’t wait to see where we go from here.
