Listening to God

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
    I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. (Psalm 32:8)

I find this verse incredibly comforting and also a great reminder to myself to keep listening to God.

I was on vacation last week and found it hard to focus on my usual morning time bible reading/talk to God. I had to be out of camp earlier in the morning and while that ritual works for me at home, it’s harder to do away from home.

Now that I’m back, I’m spending my time reconnecting to God. I have doubts/questions about some things going on in my life and have found myself going down a rabbit hole of what ifs and the dreaded “should I do X or should I do y?” (this questioning is job and hobby related. My relationships are great and I’m happy.)

For now I’m taking heart in the verse above. Everything is in God’s hands and I need to listen to him, trust him, and be patient. My life has been filled with incredible change the past few years and it’s easy to question where I am now. Instead I need to focus on settling into my new life and sussing things out once I am at peace with where I am NOW.

Dear Lord, thank you for reminding me to trust you. It’s easy to doubt the path I’m on and the reminder to listen to your wise counsel was exactly what I needed this week. Amen.
