“Sing to him, sing praise to him;
tell of all his wonderful acts.”
1 Chronicles 16:9
One of the things I don’t like about our church is that there is no choir. There is a house band and they play some pretty awesome music most of the time. But the congregation does not sing along so my friend and I mouth the words along with everyone else. (Which I can’t stand. I want to sing loud and proud about Jesus, dangit!)
Two weeks ago the band played the song “We Believe” by the Newsboys. We loved the song and were humming or whistling the tune all day. I then started down the rabbit hole of finding Christian music I liked.
This is not an easy task.
I reached out to a few friends and they had suggestions for me.
I don’t have a huge list of performers I enjoy so far but here they are:
The Newsboys
Matt Redman
Hillson
Jesus Culture
There are two songs that touch my soul. Enough to make me wish I was a rock singer and not a classicly trained one. The fact that I’m NOT a rock singer doesn’t stop me from singing these both at the top of my lungs. Usually while I’m driving.
I know God doesn’t care though. That helps me remember that I shouldn’t either.
Sing your praise as loud as you can, my friends. I’ll be doing the same.
