Some of you have reached out to me, asking why I haven’t posted in a while. There’s two reasons. The first is that I haven’t felt like I have much to add to anyone’s religious growth – I’ve been coasting along for a while, especially this summer when I had some serious medical stuff come up. The second reason is that I found a spiritual home for myself.
I am now a member of the Community of the Mother of Jesus (CMJ). I became a postulant in May 2022 and a novice in September of 2022.
It all started in February 2022, when my therapist encouraged me to explore religious communities in the Episcopal church. I had conversations with a few people, including my priest and the senior warden of our vestry, who were both members of the CMJ. I met with the CMJ online a few times a week, participating in their online prayers and rosary. I knew rather quickly that I had found my home.
Every member of the CMJ is wonderful. Each of us comes with our own points of view, but we can discuss them and grow together.
Being a religious isn’t easy. I work every day to focus on God and how I can reflect His light on the world around me. I have weekly homework and daily tasks (rosary, praying the daily office). Being the member of a religious order has totally changed my life in the most wonderful way.
Part of my current focus is getting back to blogging regularly. I haven’t felt like I’ve had much to say but realized with the help of friends that even sharing a single verse and how that affects me that week is enough.
Love you all.
Dear God, thank you for the blessings in my life – my CMJ community, my dear friends, and the chance to connect to you and your love every day. You are awesome.
